This storytime is all about P.J.'s and bedtime. It's perfect for a preschool or kindergarten pajama party day. Included are five pajama-themed book suggestions, four songs with exercises, and a cute hot chocolate mug craft.
I always love dressing up for storytime, so I got in on the fun and wore my pajamas too! The kids loved my monkey slippers. I also invited my teddy to join us. Please excuse the very dirty daycare mirror.
Books To Read in Your Pajamas

Piggies in Pajamas (Michelle Meadows)
It's bedtime, but mama is on the phone, so the five little piggies play around. Each time they think they hear her coming, they hurry into bed! In the end, they get scared and sneak down to mama's bed. I loved the rhyme in this one and that it reminded me so much of when my brother and I used to play around at night.
Llama Llama Red Pajama (Anna Dewdney)
The rhymes in this one are so fun! Mama Llama tucks Baby Llama into bed, but he gets testy and scared when she leaves. He creates a big fuss and Mama Llama has to explain that everything will be alright, even when she isn't here. This one is so much fun to read of all the onomatopoeia and volume changes!
Mother Goose's Pajama Party (Danna Smith)
Mother Goose is hosting a pajama party and word gets out to all the nursery rhyme characters. It is neat to see all the popular characters together and if you or your kids are not familiar with any of the classics mentioned, they are all included in the back.
Pajama Pirates (Andrew Kramer)
Three siblings imagine themselves going on a pirate adventure at bedtime. They encounter a rival ship and hatch a plan to escape. This one reminds me a lot of Peter Pan!
Pajama Time! (Sandra Boynton)
This board book shows a number of animals getting in their pajamas and dancing around as they get ready for bed. The kids loved the variety of animals and pajamas. This is also a fun one to read because I sing/rap it and there is a "shhhing" part at the end.

Hot Chocolate Song
(Tune: Are You Sleeping)
Nice hot chocolate, (x2) (hold a pretend mug)
Yum, yum, yum! (x2) (rub your tummy)
Marshmallows are floating, (reach up)
Whipped cream is melting. (reach down)
Yum, yum, yum, (rub your tummy)
In my tum! (point to your tummy)

5 Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed
This is just an exercise to do with the classic rhyme.
5 little monkeys jumping on the bed, (jump up and down)
One fell off and bumped his head! (kneel and hold head)
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said: (use pretend phone)
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!" (wag finger)
(Repeat until there are none left.)
Storytime Goodbye Song
Tickle the stars,
Tickle your toes.
Turn around and
Tickle your nose.
Reach down low,
Reach way up high!
Storytime is over.
Wave goodbye.
